This past Saturday, March 8, nearly 1,200 runners laced up their shoes and hit the streets of Montgomery for the 15th annual Montgomery Half & 5K. With participants traveling from 42 states, the event brought incredible energy to downtown Montgomery and generated a significant economic impact for the city. Dogwood was honored to play a role in making this year’s race an unforgettable experience.
Strengthening the Montgomery Half’s Digital Presence
Our team worked behind the scenes long before race day to build excitement and engagement. Through strategic social media management, we informed runners of training tips, registration reminders, and event updates. Engaging with the running community year-round helped keep the conversation going and encouraged participation from both local and out-of-state runners.
We also ensured that TheMontgomeryHalf.com remained up-to-date, making it easy for runners to find essential details like course maps, race schedules, and sponsor highlights. Clear, well-organized content played a key role in providing a seamless experience for participants leading up to the big day.
Eye-Catching Race Branding & Design
Every great race needs a strong visual identity, and we were proud to develop branding elements that made the Montgomery Half stand out. From finisher medals and race t-shirts to event banners and signage, we designed cohesive and visually appealing materials that enhanced the race experience for runners and spectators alike. These details help build a lasting impression and make race weekend special.
This year marked the second year in our landmark series, where we focused on the iconic water tower you see at the race’s start line. This follows the first year, which focused on the fountain at the end of Dexter Avenue. We can’t wait for this series to continue again next year with our third landmark! What will it be?
Digital Advertising & Email Marketing
We managed targeted Facebook and Google ad campaigns to maximize race registrations, reaching runners across the Southeast and beyond. These ads helped increase awareness and bring more participants to the event, contributing to the impressive turnout.
Additionally, our email marketing efforts ensured that runners stayed informed at every stage of their race journey. We crafted and sent 22 email campaigns leading to race day, covering everything from training resources to final race instructions. This level of communication helped build anticipation and ensured a smooth experience for all participants.
Capturing the Energy of Race Day
On race day, our team was on-site, providing live social media coverage and capturing moments of triumph, camaraderie, and excitement. From the starting line buzz to the finish line celebrations, we shared real-time updates, photos, and videos that allowed followers to be part of the action—even if they weren’t running.
We also facilitated a live Facebook broadcast at the start and finish line, allowing friends, family, and race fans to tune in and cheer on participants from anywhere.
A Race to Remember
The 15th annual Montgomery Half & 5K was an incredible event that showcased Montgomery’s vibrant running community and welcomed visitors from across the country. The energy, determination, and support of the community all made this race weekend a resounding success.
At Dogwood, we love seeing events like this grow year after year, and we’re proud to have played a role in bringing this experience to life. Whether through branding, marketing, or live coverage, our goal was to enhance the race in ways that made it memorable for every participant.
