At Dogwood, we believe in the power of community. That’s why we’ve been honored to support the Pike Road Patriot Fund Crawfish Boil year after year. This event, designed to raise funds for arts and athletics at Pike Road Schools, is more than just a day of great food and fun—it’s an opportunity to give back and invest in the future of our town. However, as with any large event, challenges can arise, and this year, we faced a few unexpected hurdles that tested our resilience and adaptability.
The Challenge of Changing Dates
Originally, the 2024 Crawfish Boil was set for an earlier date, but due to a scheduling conflict with Century Church, where the event is traditionally held, we had to move it. This was an unforeseen obstacle, but with strong community partnerships, we were able to adjust and reschedule. Unfortunately, this change came with its own set of challenges, particularly in maintaining the momentum of promotions and ensuring that our attendees could still make it on the new date.
When the Weather Has Other Plans
Just when we thought we had everything settled, Mother Nature decided to intervene. Heavy rain the day before the event left the venue in an unusable state, forcing us to make the tough call to postpone again—this time to the first weekend in June. We knew this could impact attendance, but ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone was our top priority.
A Community That Still Showed Up
Despite the delays and obstacles, the spirit of Pike Road remained strong. While the rescheduling led to a smaller turnout than in previous years, we still managed to raise $24,000 for arts and athletics at Pike Road Schools. Every dollar counts, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who came out, supported the cause, and made this event possible. From the sponsors and volunteers to those who bought tickets and enjoyed the crawfish, your dedication means the world to us.
Looking Ahead
If there’s one thing we’ve learned, our community is resilient. This year’s event may have come with challenges, but it has only reinforced our commitment to making next year’s Crawfish Boil even bigger and better. We’ll take what we’ve learned and continue working alongside the Pike Road Patriot Fund to ensure a successful and impactful event in 2025.
Dogwood is proud to be part of a town that comes together, rain or shine, to support the next generation. Thank you to everyone who played a role in this year’s Crawfish Boil—we can’t wait to see you next year!
